November 1, 2008 at Pat and Marlene's
Phil, Sue, Tom, Nancy, Jean, Rod, Shirley, Cullon (sp?) Sharon S. Sara, Joy and
I enjoyed a tasty lunch, exchanged gifts (thanks to Joy for organizing the
exchange, it was fun!) and shared bird room news. We heard from Gene and
Elaine who were celebrating their son and grandson's birthdays in Eau Claire,
David and the boys were wrestling, Jackie was at her daughters swim meet, Stacy
was getting her barn ready for
winter. Amy
and Diane had to work. Troy called to tell everyone hello and that he was not
feeling well so would not be able to join us. Bob was hunting.
Judy, our member in Hayward sent us a email. Her husband is not doing well
and we will keep them in our prayers and thoughts. We all signed a card to
send them. Jean took some pictures, which we will post soon. Since this was
the last get together till next year, Nancy collected some of the 2009 dues.
October 2008
Rod and Shirley's house
September 2008
Troy has some beautiful finches for sale, contact him if interested in what he
has available.
Sadie, Jean's dog.
Joy with Baby on her shoulder.
Stacy, Amy, Sharon, Rod, Shirley, Phil, Sue, Marlene, Bob, Jean, Troy, Tom, were
there, I think Tom was camera shy and Troy was busy taking pictures.

Tom's note: Everything at the zoo was most pleasant to the eyes. I'm not sure anyone too pictures, however. Including myself, sadly. However, we are saved. Here are some very nice photos of the park in very early spring. http://travel.webshots.com/album/558735361vxliND And here are lots more pictures: http://images.google.com/images?q=Marshfield%20wisconsin%20zoo&rls=com.microsoft:*:IE-SearchBox&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7GGIT&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi
Nine members got together
yesterday for the July meeting. The day started with a buffet lunch at the
China Cafe in downtown Marshfield. (Tom providing the entertainment but I
won't go there now, Tom).
Have I told you lately I am
so glad you are in this club AND we are friends???? lol
After lunch, we had a brief
meeting. Minutes of this meeting will be shared at the next gathering.
Then, since we are members
of the Marshfield Wildwood Park and Zoo Society, we toured the zoo. The
zoo crew has made some much needed updates especially the huge aviaries for the
raptors. They have a good collection of several types of owls, hawks and eagles.
It is a beautiful zoo with plantings, ponds, animals, and water fowl. It
is compact enough for one to walk around and not get too tired. The zoo
society is trying to get the funds together for a new bear enclosure. The
one they have now is small and outdated.
Saturday was a beautiful
day to spend time with friends, enjoy some good food and exchange bird room
news.
Next meeting is at Minor's
on Saturday, August 2 at 1p.m.
**Please remember do not bring any birds to the
meetings unless they are safe (weather permitting) to remain in your car until
sold, traded, etc. Any questions, please give me a call at 715-884-2659. Thanks
June 2008
The last meeting was very
enjoyable at Paul and Sharon's in Arpin. I think there were 17 members and
guests? So it was a nice turnout. Schill's have a nice,
huge screen house and we were dry and comfortable in their shelter. We got
to meet the dogs including the new puppy (Rico) Sharon took home from the fair
and her beautiful birds too. Thank you for inviting us.
May 2008
If you missed the meeting
today, you missed a lot of fun! Rod and Shirley grilled chicken, which
was super good and we had the usual mega feast. There were 13-14 of us
today so we had a lot of conversation and joking going on all afternoon.
We expected to see Troy but
he got lost:( we were looking forward to seeing you.
Stacy brought a cage,
awesome framed macaw picture, and macaw kite that she donated to the fair,
thanks Stacy!
Elaine gave a run down of
the latest donations she collected for the fair, Sue got a gift certificate from
Foster Smith. Phil donated the money to purchase Lil Caesar's Pizza
coupons for Officer Leonard and Peggy in appreciation for them coming and doing
the dog obedience demo. Dan and Peggy are doing this on their own time so we
really appreciate their helping make our fair so much fun.
Gene brought Lucky so Sara
enjoyed visiting with Lucky, and Rod's dogs. We all enjoyed Rod's birds as
well as meeting Wilma, his new Meyers parrot. She is a beauty and loves
Rod, kept jumping from everyone to Rod's shoulder.
Jean and Bob gave us an
update on the Eckkies and AGs in their aviary. More news, Tom is sending
his lovely Floreados to Canada!
Rod took care of getting
the sign permit. Checked my mailbox when we got home, our raffle permit
arrived today. I had a phone message from a guy that has metal
sculptures and wants to join us at the fair too. Sounded like some cool
stuff.
Sharon Schill asked to host
the June meeting so I will forward the directions to her house soon.
Thanks Sharon for inviting
us to meet your birds and your four pretty, little dogs.
We have a lot of
tables/vendors coming and will have fun, as usual. It is a holiday weekend
but we hope that doesn't interfere too much with the turn out. Next year
we have the usual 3rd Saturday in May reserved. We are very happy to
have the REGI group and their birds join us this year. That should be very
interesting.
We went over the Silent
Auction Items and we have 12 very nice items on the auction. Joy and Jackie
have the Silent Auction well organized. (I will get you gals a list of the items
soon)
Elaine, Shirley and Phil
have the lunch booth well under control.
Sharon, Jean and Bob are
ready to set up the raffle table and sell tickets.
Sue is going to hand out
and collect "fair evaluations" and take charge of the paid table vendor drawing.
Since we don't charge any
admission fee at the fair, we don't have any idea how many people attend our
event each year. We decided to hand out tickets to everyone attending the
fair this year. They would put one half of the ticket in a box for a
drawing and that way we will have somewhat of a count of how many attend the
event. We would have two drawings at the end of the fair, one for adults
and one for kids. We will mail out some coupons to the lucky winners
if they are not there at the time of the drawing. We need someone to
give out the tickets. Diane had to work today but asked me to give her a job at
the fair as did David, so maybe you guys would do that? Let me know.
Thanks
Rod is opening the building
at 7a.m. Please be available to help set up or take down. If you
can't be there all day, (from set up and clean up/lock up) maybe come to help
with the cleanup, that is when everyone is tired and anxious to get home.
We like to send the people who have a far distance to drive home on their way as
early as possible.
If you have any questions
or comments, please feel free to contact me. If you think of something
that I forgot to mention, please let me know. Thank you to everyone who
makes this club so much fun and our gatherings so special. You guys are
the best!

April 2008
Saturday, April 5th at
1p.m.
Addendum to the April meeting:
Hello everyone,
I received a note from
Jackie requesting that NO birds be brought into her home Saturday. Her
sweet, little Lollipop has been having some medical issues, which she will
explain in detail when we meet Saturday and she doesn't want to pass anything
around until she finds out if it is serious or not.
I have been thinking about
this for a long time too. I am going to suggest that we don't bring birds
into member's homes when we meet just for that reason. Many birds
are passed around these days and we need to be careful what we are exposing our
birds to.
Weather is nice, any birds
for sale or trade can remain in the car and when the weather is cold we can meet
in Goodwill and bring birds in. This is my suggestion for future get
togethers. Thanks for understanding and see you at Jackie's Saturday!
I am looking forward to a good meeting since we had soooo much fun last time.
I wonder what Tom has planned for entertainment this time?;)

Jackie is hosting the April
get together. Jackie and Brian have a beautiful home located in a peaceful
country like setting but still close to the town. You will meet her very
cool birds.
Please bring something for lunch.
Note from Jackie:
I am going to make a chicken tortilla soup with
fire roasted tomatoes.
Anything will go with that!
We are off from 34 by the cheese factory on MAPLE Road. There are only 3
houses on this road and only one with a drive around driveway and a red
pole
barn -- so from the N and S one needs to get on 34.

You can email or phone to
let her know if you are planning to attend, you can contact me also.

March 2008
Ten of us gathered at the
Marshfield Library yesterday with Nancy hosting the meeting. As usual, we
had a wonderful assortment of yummy foods to eat and a great time visiting.
Jackie will host the April
meeting at her house in Rudolph. Rod and Shirley are going to have the May
meeting at their house. I will post directions to Jackie's and Rod's place
later. Everyone welcomed Joy, Jackie's friend into our club, hopefully we
haven't scared her off with our sometimes "foolish" behavior, lol. We do
have fun when we get together and like Sue said, some of us haven't been out in
a while, lol.
Nancy brought the
club shirts and we were able to give them out yesterday.
Between eating, making our
silly jokes, and helping Tom mop up his coffee, we did manage to have a short
meeting. Lots of news regarding our annual fair were disscussed and plans
made. Come to the next gathering to find out what's happening there.
We were sorry to hear that
Stacy had been in a car accident. She said she is ok but very brused and
sore. She plans to join us at Jackies next month.
I received a call from
Stacy from the Parrot Valley Rescue in Coon Valley. They will be getting
in 2 AGs and a Senegal. If you are interested in any of those birds please
give her a call.
Phone: 608-790-2473
Stacy also said they are planing to join us at the fair this year.
The weather was beautiful
and roads were good, which made travel for Sue, Phil, and Tom, easy. Most
of us don't live too far from Marshfield.
February 2008 March, April, May
No Meeting in Feb.
Nancy will host the
March
meeting,
location to be decided.
We will send out a email with info soon.
April
- anyone want to host this month? Can use the
Goodwill room or the Library.
Rod and Shirley will host the
May get together. Very important meeting, this is the last time we get
together before the fair.

Hello everyone,
Due to several members having other plans that weekend and the unpredictable Wisconsin weather, club officers have decided to cancel the Saturday, Feb, 2nd meeting.
Nancy has agreed to host the March gathering and we will send out an email with details soon. Then we will only have our April gathering to finalize plans for the May Fair.
If you are interested in hosting the April meeting please let me know. You can reserve a free meeting room in Goodwill or the Library in Marshfield. Take care, stay warm and see you in March. Thanks
Marlene
January 2008
New member, Jean Scheibe and her Eclectus parrot, one beautiful specie!
We passed pictures around, but I don't have any to post, but Troy sent me some very nice pictures, I think for now I will just put some here I bet that will be just fine for now. (Tom)
amazing colors!
and more
and more
and cages and cages and cages
and fish and fish
and memory of summer and color
and verdi green
and orchids and orchids. We haven't nearly tapped even the beginning!
We had a very nice gathering yesterday. Diane and her daughter, Amy
brought a camera with pictures of her pretty birds to show us. BTW, she
has young parrotletts to sell so if you know anyone interested, please pass the
word on. It was so interesting to listen to Diane share her many years of
experience with raising/weaning the bigger birds. She told us about
pulling the babies from the nest box and hand feeding them. Bob and Jean
had some very exciting news that their pair of SI Ekkies are on eggs, which
should hatch soon. We all wish you good luck with your first venture at
raising some nice hand fed ekkies. Tom found the meeting location and was
the first one to get there! Santa left a little stuffed pig for Rosie at
my house and Tom took that home for her since she was busy getting her nails
done and so couldn't join us. He showed us some pretty nifty gadgets that
Santa brought him for Christmas, the latest in hi-tech gizmos. Sharon
brought a picture of her 4 dogs and so the topic turned to dogs for a while too.
I have to say we all enjoy our pets and hearing about everyone elses too.
Jackie had a easier drive to the meeting yesterday than last month. If you
remember, last month was at Rod's and it was a nasty blizzard but Jackie is a
very brave gal and drove to Rod's in a cute, little VW bug. Took her an
hour to get back home to Rudolph but she made it, way to go Jackie!
Yesterday, we discussed the Bird & Garden Fair and everyone who was at the
meeting plans to attend and be able to help. It will be on Saturday, May 24,
2008 at the fair grounds just like last year. 10 to 3 with set up before
and clean up after. As most of you know, the Fair is a huge event for our
club to take on and we need everyone to help. If you can't attend to help
with set up and take down please consider donating something to the raffle or
silent auction. This could be a nice cage with a bird or 2 inside, plants,
box of bird goodies, or ask the folks where you shop to help us out. We
don't charge an admission fee so we depend on the raffle, table rent and silent
auction to bring in money to cover expenses. As usual everyone is
asked to post flyers and help with advertising. I spoke with Sue
last night and she will make up flyers again and email to us so we can get a
head start on that. It is not too early to reserve a table either.
Diane asked for one yesterday. The charge will be $20.00 as in the past.
This year the club will be serving the lunch. We decided that the easier
the better, like hot dogs/BarBQs chips, pickle, coffee and soda. The Amish
kids will be there again with their tasty baked goods.
We had a lunch of BarBQ, buns, chips, pickles, brownies, 2 cheese and sausage
trays and pizza cheese curds. Tom suggested that we meet at Minor's in
Feb. So that is where we will be, the date is Saturday, Feb, 2,at 1:00p.m.
The first to arrive will be able to park in the driveways and others can park on
3rd st. right across from the house. (No parking on the HWY 80) right in front
of the house.
We missed Rod who was fishing. Phil, Troy, Sue decided that weather is
unpredictable in WI winter so we will see them when it gets warmer. Vickie
is in Fl and I hope she can join us in Feb. Vickie shares my passion for the
little green singer finches. Nancy was in MN, Carolyn was working. We
missed Elaine and Gene too, Elaine has not been feeling well and we hope she
will get better real soon and be able to join us. David had to take
their elderly dog to the vet yesterday. The Dr said she still was
interested in her surroundings and didn't seem to be in pain so they decided to
bring her home and enjoy a bit more time with her. We have all been there
with our pets and it is such a painful decision. Gail's son had a
wrestling match. Got a note from Roy saying they would not be able to
attend. Hope to see Stacy in Feb.
I am attaching a list of members with information and the address of our club
website.
