The weather was beautiful and a great day to visit the Wildwood Park and Zoo. The animals and raptures were delighted to see us too. We had the usual delicious lunch and interesting conversation ranging from fried green tomatoes to Timbrados to tales out of school from Phil's teaching days!
Next gathering is at Saturday, October 3rd at 1p.m. at Minor's. Please bring a dish to go with Bar-B Qs. If you have any plants you want to trade, bulbs or extras give away please bring them along. Plant exchanges are always fun!
Anyone interested in guppies? I have extras and will be taking them to the pet store soon so let me know if you want a few. |
August 2009
We had a most wonderful time at Brad's, from where we went to see the three wonderful bear. The bear had miles of area to hide, but as they were so tame, and enjoyed people so much, they followed us everywhere we went, even crossing a special bridge made for them to walk across, as shown in one of the pictures. I would be happy to move in with them, Plenty of places especially made for napping, berries, a special waterfall, everything beautiful and green. The presentation was gracious and full of information. I'm going to keep bears when I grow up. Not written by Tom.

We had a great get together in the Marshfield Goodwill's meeting room.
We enjoyed a good selection of both good food and lively conversation. The
meeting room is "cozy" BUT they do allow us to bring birds into the room, which
is good if you are trading birds. We didn't get any pictures yesterday
since the club photographer had a previous appointment;) and could not stay for
the meeting. Those attending were: Tom, Phil, Sue, Rod and Shirley, Colon,
Brad, Nancy, Joy and me. Thank God the weather cooperated yesterday
so those driving from a distance could attend and get back home safely.
I am forwarding some pictures that Jean took of the Feb meeting at Happy Joe's
Pizza in Medford. As you can see, we had alot of fun there and enjoyed
the Valentine exchange, excellent pizza and salad bar.
I heard from some of the members who could not attend. Sharon S. Judy and
Elaine, we hope you are recovering from recent surgeries and will be able to
join us soon. Troy and Diane had to work. Jackie was out of town.
David had had a very busy week so lots to catch up on. Some of us were getting
over colds and not feeling up to par but I think we did have a good time and it
was good to get out and visit with our bird buddies.
Yesterday we mostly discussed plans for the fair, which is just around the
corner. Find out details and updates regarding the fair at the
April meeting. Joy volunteered to "host" the
April gathering, which is Saturday, April 4th; 1p.m. in the Marshfield Library
lower level meeting room. Joy plans to serve chicken and
coffee so we should bring something to go with that and bring your own beverage
if you aren't a coffee drinker. Remember, the library does
not
allow live animals inside the building.
Several members, including the club Pres, paid their 2009 club dues .($15.00)
Payments can be mailed to Jean at: Jean Scheibe; 663 Valley
Trail; Nekoosa, WI 54457
Hope to see you next month at the Library.
